Despite all of the wet weather we have been having it may come to a surprise that we have been having a lot less rain than normal over the past 3 years. There have been a lot of questions by students, parents and staff about why the Mimram River has dried up. Miss Whitford has contacted the Environment Agency to find out why this is the case and what is being done about it.
Their reports in response are attached to the Newsletter email this week. Miss Whitford is currently running a 'Geo Club' for Year 8 to Upper Sixth and will be producing an assembly to explain to our students as to the importance of the Mimram as a precious Chalk Stream, and why it is drying up. Hopefully, the reports attached by the Environment Agency will answer some of the questions parents and staff may have about the river.
